Special interest in thyroid, hypogonadism and androgen replacement, Insulin pump and adolescent diabetes and endocrinology.
Background
Sailesh graduated from Mahatma Gandhi University in 1994 and has been working in the UK since 1996. He completed his SHO training and his MRCP locally at George Eliot Hospital and Walsgrave Hospital. Sailesh then went on to complete his specialist training in endocrinology and diabetes in West Midlands rotation and his MD at the University of Warwick. He has presented his work at meetings both at national and international level. More recently, Sailesh was appointed as a consultant at the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire. He is also involved with the Masters Programme at University of Warwick.
Clinical Interests In addition to general internal medicine, general endocrinology and diabetes clinics Sailesh runs:
A joint clinic in adolescent diabetes and transitional endocrinology along with paediatric diabetologist and endocrinologist (Dr Matyka and Dr Heather Stirling)
An intensive insulin therapy service/insulin pump service and continuous glucose monitoring service
A joint thyroid clinic
A diabetic complications-microvascular, CHD, erectile dysfunction and retinal screening programme
Research Interests
Sailesh’s research interests include clinical risk factors in retinopathy,
UKADS- retinopathy data and subclinical hypo and hyperthyroidism and endocrine changes in diabetes.
He is currently collaborating with Aston University, where he is looking at retinal blood flow and retinal vascular reactivity in diabetes and endocrine disorders.
